Where to find the best healthy food in bali
Alchemy: Alchemy Bali is the island’s first 100% raw vegan cafe & juice bar, organic health food store, and holistic clinic. There’s a salad bar with an array of raw greens, raw sushi (!!), kale chips with condiments including cashew cream cheese, and of course, raw desserts. Along with food, the place also offers fresh juices and cocobiotics (a probiotic coconut water brewed by fermenting wild young coconuts).
The Seeds of Life: Positioned in the mountains of Bali, they have access to some of the most vibrant organic produce grown in rich volcanic soils & fresh picked daily. Serving fresh organic juices, superfood smoothies, delicious raw & vegan deserts, soft centred-tonic-herb filled raw chocolates, superfood bliss balls & much, MUCH more.
Dayu’s Warung: This cool little hipster cafe is all about living longer and enjoying a fuller life by eating good which is chemical, GMO & additive free. They serve everything from tumeric smoothies, aloe detoxes, coconut milk oats and raw pizzas.
Ayung Organic Restaurant: Located in one of Bali’s most naturally stunning locations, the Ayung Organic Restaurant at the Royal Pita Maha Resort in Ubud is a hidden gem. This place is has a much more gourmet feel to it. The desserts are my favourite (as always) & all have a creative spin – think green tea & gingered carrot cake, organic seaweed cake & organic cookie sandwiches with avocado parfait.
Kafe: Kafe has an organic menu great for veggie grazing or just having a coffee, juice or house-made natural soft drink (LOVE this idea). This place is never not busy.
The Elephant Restaurant: Not only is the food nutritious and delicious, but the restaurant offers an amazing view! A cool & relaxed setting for brunch, dinner or sunset cocktails (with all natural & fresh ingredients!)
Garden Kafe: This place just screams “namaste” with its rice field views, overlooking the terraced lawn & Yoga Barn. The staff are super friendly and there’s even special menus for Detox and Ayurvedic Rejuvenation.
Down to Earth: The sister restaurant of Zula and Earth Cafe in Seminyak, Down to Earth is a combination organic shop and restaurant, with the former stocking organic produce, natural paraben-free cosmetics and a whole bunch of other goodies. Everything is vegetarian and there are a number of mouthwatering raw and vegan options. A selection of raw chocolates and energy balls, as well as juices and smoothies galore round out a complete raw portfolio.
Clear: This little sanctuary is warm and inviting, serving the philosphy “eat the food you wish to be”. Meat and seafood are offered but symbols are utlised to denote whether a menu item is vegeterian, strictly vegan, or purely raw.
Earth Cafe: Possibly the most popular veggie cafe in all the island. It’s one of my main eateries in Seminyak with an extensive menu including refreshing elixirs, dragon bowls (you MUST try!!), kombucha, raw meals & guilt-free desserts.
Sea Circus: A very cool place with charm and humour. The light tortilla wraps, fresh cocktails and acai bowls are beyond. They even serve “hangover happy meals”. I’m all about this place.
Shelter Cafe: Located on a roof top garden, this place is a secret, relaxing escape from the busy streets of Seminyak. They recently revamped their menu and it’s just LOVE. Not to mention the all-day breakfast menu offering a large variety of egg dishes, special quinoa porridge & Shelter Super Crumble.
Cafe Zucchini: One of the most popular places to get your healthy food on in Seminyak, this cafe has become an institution for its freshly made salads, refreshing juices and smoothies.
The Spicy Coconut: Apart from my favourites (vegan pancakes and breakfast bowls) there’s plenty on offer from fresh juices, smoothies, coconuts, fruit bowls and everything else you’d expect at an organic cafe.
Watercress Cafe: Shabby-chic Watercress is a fresh food oasis! The staff are so fun and welcoming and I love it here for breakfast ( try the replenishing juice ! ). Plus any place that sells Revolver coffee and alcohol on the same menu gets a thumbs up in my books.
Nalu Bowls: Love, love, LOVE this place. This little smoothie shack now has four spots across Bali and are getting more popular by the day! Nalu bowls are inpsired by Hawaii and the culture that revolves around surfing and the tropics. They infuse the tastes of local dragon fruit, coconut flesh, mango, papaya, spinach & banana. They are BEYOND.
Divine Earth Bali: Divine Earth is 100% raw. The menu is quite unique with a whole bunch of creative takes on Raw Cuisine, as well as the usual variety of juices, smoothies and desserts. It is connected to a yoga studio and is a beautiful sign of a developing consciousness for health and diet in the otherwise debaucherous South Bali.
Betelnut Cafe: It’s surprising that even regular visitors to Bali are unaware of Betelnut Cafe, considering it’s one of my favourite places on the island. The place is overlooking beautiful ricefield and sunset from afar, and only 5-minute from Batu Bolong beach. The ambience is just incredible. They serve wheatgrass, jamu, juices, smoothies, a whole bunch of vegetarian and vegan cooked food. I’d come back here over & over again.
Peloton Supershop: Part vegan cafe, part bicycle store, and part event space. The Peleton represents the group of cyclists thatride together to help build speed & conserve energy. If you want a real treat, try the biker bowl ( I still dream about it ) or pantani porridge, that is quinoa coconut porridge with sauteed banana and coconut nectar. Oh and the vanilla passion kombucha will give you life.
Green Ginger Noodle House: One of the original cafes in Canguu, this vego cafe also caters to coeliacs. They serve vegan ice cream so they’re kind of already a winner to me.
Avocado Cafe: This cute and cozy little spot in Canggu is a real gem. It caters to paleos and is a favourite among tourists for brunch. The acai mango bowls are everything, and made even better with a side of tumeric & wheatgrass shots!
Crate Cafe: Created by Aussies and enjoyed by like-minded health conscious individuals, Crate serves delicious healthy options and incredible coffee that is their own blend.
Milk & Madu: Run by the same team as Watercress, Milk & Madu is a favourite for breakfast with tables always packed. The café has no walls, only several columns to support the roof which gives a very open, tropical island feel. If I could describe the food in one word: FRESH. They also pride themselves on their coffee, served with every kind of milk you could think of.
